I like that CMLA’s mission involves both community service and mentorship for pre-health students. I love that so many of our volunteer events allow us to interact with such a diverse community. There’s a friendly, welcoming environment in the club and you get to know some amazing people with the same goals and interests as you. My goal is to become a physician. I’m not sure what specialty I would like to go into, but I would love to work with kids.

Michelle Song

Third Year | Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Major | Riverside, CA

I joined CMLA because I liked its friendly environment and its dedication to helping underserved local communities. I don’t have a concrete career goal but one of the fields I’m interested in is pediatrics.

Director of Social Relations

Kristina La

Fourth Year | Psychobiology Major | Union City, CA

I joined CMLA because as a first generation Asian American and the first in my family to attend a four-year college, I wanted to be a part of a community that would guide and support me in my goals in becoming a physician. CMLA has provided me with a lot of resources and a strain support system on the pre-med path. I hope to one day become a pediatric oncologist/hematologist.

CMLA’s purpose aligns with my personal goals. I want to aid the medically underserved communities because I believe that medicine is a basic human right. Also, CMLA provides a great social and academic support system

Andrew Swenson

Third Year | Physiological Sciences Major with Neuroscience Focus | Dallas, TX

CMLA is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the pre-med pathway as well as make an impact in the Los Angeles community. Outside of CMLA, I participate in Neuroscience research within the Ronald Regan Medical Center and Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. I love playing board games with friends, playing sports, and hanging with friends!

I joined CMLA as a freshman who wanted more information and a community as a pre-med student. I was drawn to this club’s mission to welcome and offer guidance to anyone who needs it. Amidst all the pre-health competitiveness, this club is like a friendly reminder that at the end of the day, we’re entering this field in order to help people. 🙂 That being said, I plan on applying to medical school and becoming a physician in the future. I look forward to working towards this goal with all of you!

Chris Chae

Second Year | PsychoBiology Major | Irvine, CA

I joined CMLA because I wanted to join a community of pre-health students that are good people and who help others in need.

Karine Kim

Third Year | Physiological Sciences and Anthropology Double Major | San Diego, CA

I first joined CMLA because I wanted more opportunities to volunteer in community healthcare and to interact with people of various backgrounds in the LA community. However, CMLA has provided me with so much more than just volunteer opportunities. I have come to love how its environment is always supportive and helps me achieve my goals! In the future, I hope to attend medical school and become a physician!
